Addendum Heading Abbreviations
- H & W (Health & Welfare)

Health Insurance: Medical benefits provided by your choice of either Kaiser or PacifiCare HMO. There is a $15 co-pay per visit to the doctor. The entire family is covered by the plan.
Pharmacy: Medicine provided with a $5 co-pay for generic drugs and $10 for name brand.
Vision: Eye care for the member and entire family covered through Visioncare insurance. You are entitled to a full eye examine each year as well as new lens if needed.
Life insurance: As a member you are covered with a life insurance policy for $10,000.
- APP - IMI (Apprenticeship and International Masonry Institute)
These are contributions that pay for the apprentice program. There is no cost to apprentices to attend the school.
- D/D (Dental/ Disability)

Dental Insurance: The member and his family are entitled to dental benefits up to $3000 per family per year based on eligibility.
Disability Payments: If you are injured on the job and receiving a payment from the state disability fund you become eligible for supplemental payments from the trust fund for additional disability payments
- Comp (Compliance)
These are contributions paid to monitor the prevailing wage work that is being performed in our area. Compliance makes sure that the non-union contractors are abiding by Calif State Law when they do work on projects paid for with government funding.
- LM (Labor Management)
These are contributions to foster harmony in the industry between Labor & Management.
- LP - IUP (Local or International Union Pension)
Contributions paid to the retirement savings on your behalf by the contractor. This money is kept in your own retirement account and held there until you become eligible for retirement.
- WD (Working Dues)
These are deductions from the members’ hourly wage and then distributed to the different organizations by the trust fund. They are also referred to as working dues and are tax deductible. This is some of the money that funds Local #18 as well as our International Union. (International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers - BAC)
- CAF (Contract Administration Fund)
These are contributions made to the contractor association to help pay for contract negotiations
