Health & Welfare
Your health & welfare plan (Medical Ins, Dental Ins, Vision Ins, Disability Ins and Pensions) is administered by the Tile Insurance Trust Fund. If you have any questions regarding these benefits, please call the TITF at (888) 509-8453. If you belong to the Santa Barbara Trust Fund, please call Roxanne Russell at (805) 686-1677. Your employers that belong to the trust fund make benefit payments based on hours worked by you. You must keep all your pay stubs to prove any discrepancies between you and your employers. You will be contacted by the fund when you have enough qualifying hours to be insured.
Meetings and Events
General membership meetings are held quarterly in the months of January, April, July and October. The general meetings are for all members and held on a Saturday. The official business of the Union is conducted at these meetings.
Chapter meetings are informal and of smaller group size to discuss items of concern, problems and ideas that members might have. They are held in the different counties that are represented by Local #18. Input from the chapter meetings is reported to the Local Officers, Regional Director and/or the International Union. Remember this is your union and your input counts.
Out of Work List
When you are out of work you are required to maintain your name on the out of work list at the union hall. You must do this by calling in each week. You must call (800) 409-1800 give your name and your work classification (Journeyperson or Apprentice – Tile Setter, Terrazzo Worker or Tile, Marble, Terrazzo Finisher). Failure to check in each week will result in your name being removed from the list and you will not be dispatched to work. In addition you may have your state unemployment benefits terminated. To collect your unemployment your name must be on our out of work list (The state does check). If your previous employer recalls you to work, you are required to call in and have your name removed from the list.
